HFCU joined the Association of Vermont Credit Unions, along with over 6,000 credit union employees and volunteers in Washington D.C., March 3-7, 2024 for the annual Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC). During the conference we heard from thought leaders about everything from consumer protection to emerging business trends in artificial intelligence.

The most exciting part of the week is always the opportunity to speak with our state legislators. All three of our Vermont lawmakers joined over 40 Vermont credit union visitors to hear about pressing issues back home and share what’s going on in our nation’s Capitol.

HFCU’s very own Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer, Carrie Allen, had a chance to address the legislators about the housing shortage and lack of housing development – particularly in the southern half of Vermont – and the pressures that places on attracting and retaining top talent in all sectors.

Senators Bernie Sanders and Peter Welch, and Congresswoman Becca Balint all expressed gratitude for the time and insights and vowed to continue fighting to support the health and well-being of Vermonters.
